TEACHABLE SPIRIT
Knowing God Through His Word

WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN

Truly, truly, I say to you, except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:3

WHY MUST WE BE BORN AGAIN?

It all began centuries ago in the beginning of "time."  On the sixth day of God's creation, God created Adam and Eve; the first human beings.  He created them with a sinless nature.

God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He placed Adam to live and later Eve.  In that garden were trees that God had planted.  The trees were good for food.  Among those trees that God planted were two very different trees.  The first tree was known as the "tree of life," and the second tree was known as the "tree of having the knowledge of good and evil."

As it is written:
Genesis 2:9

9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Adam and Eve were free to eat from all the trees that were good for food.  However, they were forbidden to eat from the tree that had the knowledge of good and evil.

As it is written:
Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat:
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

Note: Adam and Eve did not die a physical death but a spiritual death.  They separated themselves from God spiritually by disobeying His command.

Adam and Eve were not the only ones that were in the garden, the fallen cherub, Satan, was also there.  Satan was their because he rebelled against God, and he lost his place in heaven.  He was thrown down to earth.

As it is written:
Ezekiel 28:13,15
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your adornment...
15 You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you.

In the process of time, the fallen cherub, Satan, deceived Eve and she ate from the forbidden tree, and she also gave the fruit from the tree to Adam, and he also ate.  Eve chose to believe what the beast (that was not yet cursed into being a serpent) said to her; and she along with her husband, Adam, disobeyed God's command.  Because of their disobedience, God put them both out of the garden of Eden.

As it is written:
Genesis 3:22-24

22 And the Lord God said, behold, the man has become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now lest he put out his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever:
23 therefore, the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from where he was taken.
24 So, he drove out the man: and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

WHY MUST WE BE BORN AGAIN?  BECAUSE GOD SAID IT HAD TO BE THIS WAY.

We must be born again in order for the human race to enter back into a right relationship with God and to have eternal life with God.  Adam and Eve disobeyed God and took on the sin nature and passed it down to their descendants, the human race.

Therefore, God in His wisdom sent His only Son, Jesus, into the world in the likeness of flesh without the sin nature.  Jesus came into the world to redeem the human race back to God.

As it is written:
John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
18
He that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

JESUS AND NICODEMUS ON THE SUBJECT OF BEING BORN AGAIN

Nicodemus, a Pharisee, and a ruler of the Jews saw the many miracles that Jesus had done.  One evening Nicodemus went to visit Jesus at His home.  He started his conversation with Jesus by confessing what he knew to be true.

As it is written:
John 3:2

2 Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God, and that no man can do the miracles that you do, except God be with Him.

Jesus did not continue on in the conversation that Nicodemus already knew to be true, but rather Jesus told Nicodemus what he did not know.

As it is written:
John 3:3-6
3 Jesus said to Nicodemus; Truly, truly, I say to you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God
4 Nicodemus said to Jesus, how can a man be born when he is old?  Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb?
5 Jesus explained to Nicodemus; Truly, truly, I say to you, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

We know that there is the natural birth from the womb.  For once we are born there is no going back into the womb.  Jesus has now made known to us that there is also a spiritual birth.

God is a Spirit, and when God created the human race from the dust of the earth, He placed in the human being a spirit (soul), with a will.  The spirit (soul) of a human being cannot die.

As it is written:
Ecclesiastes 12:7
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God which gave it.

Our spirit, which came from God, lives in a body of sinful flesh.  Jesus came to redeem, save, our spirit (soul) that is housed in a body of flesh from a life of sin.  In order for us to be redeemed we must "believe" that Jesus came to redeem us; and we do so by confessing our sins to Him.

By asking Jesus to forgive us of all of our sins and believing that our sins are forgiven; our mind and our spirit (soul) has become born again in this, our body of flesh.  Jesus then sends Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God) with His assignment, to live in each born again believer.

As it is written:
John 16:13

13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.

HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN

The Apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Rome wrote what a person must do in order to be born again; saved.

As it is written:
Romans 10:9
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved [born again].

Romans 10-10
10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

SALVATION THE PRECIOUS "GIFT" FROM GOD

The Apostle Paul also writes what he knows about Jesus and the "gift" of salvation.  The "gift" that Jesus wants to give to everyone that believes in Him and comes to Him for the forgiveness of their sins.

As it is written:
Romans 5:15-21

15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many.
16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.
17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As it is written:
Hebrews 7:25

25 Therefore, He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.

Being born again (saved), is so important to Jesus, that He has shared with the world what takes place in heaven when a person repents and ask that their sins be forgiven.

As it is written:
Luke 15:7
7 I say to you that joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety-nine just persons, which need no repentance.

As it is written:
Luke 15:10
10 Likewise, I say to you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.

THE INVITATION TO BE BORN AGAIN

Dearly Beloved,
Have you heard about Jesus but didn't take the time to know Him?  Do you now feel that you want to know Jesus?  That feeling of wanting to know Jesus, is God calling you to repentance.

As it is written: No man can come to Me, except the Father which has sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:44

Again, it is written: ...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me.  John 14:6

Beloved,
Here is Jesus' invitation to you.  Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke [My way of doing things] upon you and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly [humble] in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.  For My yoke is easy, and My burden [what you will go through in life] is light.  Matthew 11:28-30

The Apostle John writes this in 1 John the letter that bears his name.

As it is written:
1 John 4:15-17

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God has to us.  God is love, and he that dwell's in love dwell in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

Dearly Beloved,
Salvation is Jesus' gift to you.  When you invite Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior, and the forgiver of all your sins; the following events will take place in your life.

  ● You are instantly born again, and your sins are forgiven and remembered no more.  Hebrews 8:12

  ● Holy Spirit will be sent in Jesus' name to teach you all things.  John 14:26

  ● You are made the righteousness of God in Jesus.  2 Corinthians 5:21

  ● You have become an heir of God, and joint heirs with Christ Jesus.  Romans 8:17

  ● Angels have been given their assignment concerning you.  Hebrews 1:14

  ● Your name is written in the book of life.  Luke 10:20

Dearly Beloved, Please Have This Talk with God Your Father

Dear God in Heaven,
I come into your presence in the name of your Son, Jesus.  Father, the Apostle Paul said; if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  Romans 10:9

Father God, I believe the words written by the Apostle Paul.  I have confessed that Jesus is Lord.  I believe in my heart that you raised your Son, Jesus from the dead.  Thank you, Father God, for sending your Son to save me from a life of sin.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

Father God, now that I have accepted your Son, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior; the Apostle Paul said, let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrew 4:16

Father God, Jesus said, and whatsoever you shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.  John 14:13-14

Father God, Jesus said, Verily, verily I say to you: whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it to you.  John 16:23

Father God,

I thank you that I can come to you in prayer.
I thank you for being my God, and now you're my Father.  I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus to be Lord of my life, and I thank you for your precious Holy Spirit.  To you Father God be all the honor, praise, and glory forever.   Amen

Father God,
I thank you that I can now come to you with your Word and the Word of your Son, Jesus, and receive answers to prayer.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

As it is written:
John 15:7
If you abide [remain, continue, stay] with Me and My Words abide [remain, continue, stay] in you, ask whatsoever you wish, and it will be done for you.

And it is so, in the name of Jesus.

INVITATION TO THE BACKSLIDER TO RETURN BACK TO GOD

Dearly Beloved,
There are many reasons why born-again people turn back, and no longer walk with God.  Turning back does not happen all at once, it takes place gradually.  God still loves you, and He wants you to come back to Him.

This is God's written Word to you, through the prophet Jeremiah.  Turn, O backsliding children, says the Lord; for I am married to you.  Jeremiah 3:14

Why do God's children backslide?  Here are a few of the reasons why God's children backslide; turn away from God.

1.They do not have Holy Spirit living in them.
2.
They do not have a personal relationship with God through His Word.
3.They are helpless in knowing what to do when problems arise in their life.
4.
They are deceived by Satan and turn back to their old way of living.
5.They made the choice to no longer live for God.

Jesus talks about the seriousness of backsliding in the Gospel of Luke.

As it is written:
Luke 9:62
62 No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

So, what must a backslider do?  They must return back to God with a sincere heart.  Not only has God said that He is married to the backslider; God has also said: Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Jeremiah 3:22

The Apostle Peter writes this in his letter that bears his name.

As it is written:

2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Dearly Beloved, Please Pray This Prayer to Jesus

Lord Jesus,
I come to you confessing that I am a backslider.  I walked away from you, I walked away from God, and I walked away from Holy Spirit.  I know that I am lost without you.  Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins.  Lord Jesus, please forgive me of all my sins.

Lord Jesus,
Please come back into my life and please forgive me of all my sins.
Please, Lord Jesus deliver me and set me free from a life of sin and the habits that came with sin.

Please, Lord Jesus be Lord of my life again and please help me to not walk away from you and God again.
Lord Jesus, God said in his Word,
"Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding."
Lord Jesus, please heal me from this backsliding condition that I now live in.
Lord Jesus, please create in me a clean heart, and please renew a right spirit within me.
Lord Jesus, please send Holy Spirit to live in me and teach me in all truth.  In your name, Lord Jesus.  Amen

I thank you, Lord Jesus, that you have heard me, and have forgiven me of all my sins.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for delivering me and setting me free from a life of sin and the habits that came with the sin.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for being Lord of my life yet again.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for healing me of my backsliding condition.

I thank you, Lord Jesus, for creating in me a clean heart, and renewing a right spirit within me.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for sending Holy Spirit to live in me yet again and teaching me all that is truth.
I thank you, Lord Jesus, for your never-ending love for me.  My soul says, thank you.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

Dearly Beloved,
By thanking Jesus this is what you are saying to Him:

Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that you have forgiven me of all my sins.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that you have delivered me from sin, and I am now set free from a life of sin and the habits that came with sin.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that you are now Lord of my life yet again.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that I am healed from my backsliding condition.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that you have created in me a clean heart, and have renewed a right spirit within me.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, that Holy Spirit now lives in me again and is teaching me in all truth.
Lord Jesus, I now "receive" by my faith in you, Your never-ending love for me.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

Welcome Home!

Dearly Beloved, Please Have This Talk with God

Dear God in Heaven,
I walked away from my life with you, I walked away from my life with your Son, Jesus, and I caused your Holy Spirit to leave me.  I walked away from my relationship with you, and the life you wanted for me.  I returned back to my old way of living.

Even though I walked away from our relationship, I know you never stopped loving me.  Father God, please forgive me, I'm sorry.  I thank you Father God for forgiving me.  I thank you, Father God for your love for me.  My soul says, thank you.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

Dearly Beloved, Please Have This Talk with Holy Spirit

Dear Precious Holy Spirit,
Please forgive me, I'm sorry that I caused you to leave me.  I know that you could not stay in an unclean vessel.  Even though you could not live in me, your presence was always with me because you are omnipresent.  I thank you Holy Spirit for forgiving me.  Thank you, for your love for me.  My soul says, thank you.  I am forever grateful.  Amen

Beloved, Please Have This Talk with God

Dear God,
I know that you love me, and I know that the way I have been living has not been pleasing in your sight.  I put myself in the position of being separated from you for all eternity, and I don't want that to happen.

Dear God,
Please forgive me, I'm sorry for not being fully obedient to you, and to what you have called me to be.  I thank you, Father God for forgiving me.  I thank you, Father God for your never-ending love for me.  My soul says, thank you.  I am forever grateful.

Beloved, Please Have This Talk with Holy Spirit

Dear Precious Holy Spirit,
Please forgive me, I am so sorry that I have not allowed you to guide me in Spirit and in truth.  Please forgive me, I am so sorry that I have not allowed you to show me things that are to come.  Please forgive me, I am so sorry Holy Spirit, for all the times that I have grieved you.

Holy Spirit, I know the word written in Ephesians 4:30 that says; and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Please forgive me, I am so sorry Holy Spirit for causing you to feel grief and sorrow.

I thank you Holy Spirit for forgiving me.  I thank you for your never-ending love for me.  My soul says, thank you.  I am forever grateful.

THE ACCEPTANCE OF SALVATION

Beloved,
Now that you have accepted the gift of salvation, your life is now free from the life of sin,

Jesus said, If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.  John 8:36

Your life is now in the hands of the Almighty God our Father, His Son Jesus Christ, who is our Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit of God.

As it is written:
John 10:27-30
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.

Beloved,
Please know that your name is now written in the book of life in heaven.

As it is written:
Revelation 3:5

5 He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment, and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before His angels.

Beloved,
The Word of God now belongs to you, and you can go to your God with His Word at any time.  Please pray that God will give you insight when you are reading His Word.  Please pray also that God will give you a praying spirit.

Equally important is that you continue to walk in love, obedience, humility, compassion, and faithfulness to God.  Always have confidence and trust in your God.  Please, don't let anyone mistake your humility, confidence, and trust in your God for pride.

Beloved,
Whether you have accepted Jesus for the first time, or have rededicated your life to God, or have fully committed your life to God; you will need a church to attend.  Please pray that God will give you a church home according to His promise.

As it is written:
Jeremiah 3:15
15 Then I will give you shepherds after mine own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

A PRAYER

Beloved,

I want to pronounce a prayer over you that the Apostle Paul prayed to God on behalf of the Ephesians.  This prayer can be received today by all that are born again children of God.

As it is written:
Ephesians 1:17-19

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
19 And His incomparably great power for us who believe.

And it is so, in the name of Jesus.  Amen

A CALL TO THE UNBELIEVER

The Story of Lazarus and the Rich Man

Jesus spoke these Words to the disciples that came to hear Him, and to the Pharisees that were mocking Him.  The Words of Jesus applies to everyone that will not believe and receive salvation.

As it is written:
Luke 16:19-31

19 There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and lived in luxury every day.
20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores,
21 And longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table.  Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 The time came when the beggar died, and the angels carried him to Abraham's side.  The rich man also died and was buried.
23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
24 So, he called to him, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.
25 But Abraham replied, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony.

26 Besides all this, between us and you a great chasm [separation] has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.
27 He answered, then I beg you, father send Lazarus to my family,

28 For I have five brothers.  Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.
29 Abraham replied, they have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.

30 No, father Abraham, he said, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.
31 He said to him, if they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.

THE LAST INVITATION TO RECEIVE SALVATION

The end of the Bible is the book of Revelation.  In Revelation is the last invitation to receive salvation.

As it is written:
Revelation 3:20-21
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in and will sup [dine] with him, and he with Me.
21 To him that overcome will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.

As it is written:
Revelation 22:17
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, come.  And let him that hears, say come.  And let him that is thirsty come.  And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling,
and to present you faultless
before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Savior,
be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
both now and forever more.  Amen

Jude 24-25
