TEACHABLE SPIRIT
Knowing God Through His Word

MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD

My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,
that I may meditate on your promises.
Psalm 119:148

After the death of Moses, God spoke to Joshua, and gave him the responsibility of taking the Israelites into Canaan.  God commanded Joshua to meditate on the laws that Moses had given to him.

As it is written:
Joshua 1:7-8
7 Be strong and very courageous.  Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful.

When we meditate on the written living Word; God is watching and listening to His Word to bring to pass the Word we are meditating on, for whatever need we may have in our lives.

As it is written:
Isaiah 65:24
24 Before they pray, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

As it is written:

Jeremiah 1:11-12

11 The word of the Lord came to me: What do you see, Jeremiah?  I replied: I see a branch of an almond tree.
12 The Lord said to me: You have seen right, For I am watchful to bring My word to pass.

When we meditate on the living Word of God; Jesus is interceding on our behalf in heaven.  Jesus is making sure that we receive what we are requesting from God, according to His Word, according to His Promises.  Furthermore, Jesus lets us know that God knows our need before we pray.

As it is written:

John 14:13-14

13 And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

As it is written:
Matthew 6:7-8
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling, like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Jesus has more to say when it comes to requesting things from our God.

As it is written:
Matthew 7:7

7 Ask, and it shall be given to you: seek and you shall find, knock, and it shall be opened to you.

As it is written:
Mark 11:24
24 Therefore, I say unto you, whatsoever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.

When we meditate on the living Word of our God; Holy Spirit is also listening, and He intercedes on our behalf here on earth.  Holy Spirit prays to God the will of God according to the Word of God in a language we do not understand.

As it is written:
Romans 8:26-27

26 Likewise, the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning's that cannot be uttered.
27 And He that searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

KNOWING GOD BY HIS WRITTEN WORD

When we meditate on the word of God, we are taught on how to live a life of righteousness unto God.

As it is written:
Numbers 23:19

19 God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent.  Has He said, and will He not do?  Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

As it is written:
Isaiah 30:18

18 Therefore, the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore, He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.  For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

As it is written:
Isaiah 46:11

11 Indeed, I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass.  I have purposed it; I will also do it.

As it is written:
Jeremiah 9:23-24

23 This is what the Lord says: Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,
24 but let the one who boasts, boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me, that I am God, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,  declares the Lord.

THE WORD OF GOD THAT PROMISE TO HEAR AND ANSWER OUR PRAYERS

As it is written:
Jeremiah 29:12

12 Then shall you call upon me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

As it is written:

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

As it is written:
I John 5:14

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

As it is written:
Psalm 34:15,17

15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.
17 The righteous cry out and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles
.

As it is written:
Matthew 7:7-8

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.
8 For everyone that ask receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

As it is written:
Jeremiah 33:3

3 Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

As it is written:
Mark 11:24

24 Therefore, I say to you, whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.

THE WORD OF GOD THAT DISCIPLINE'S HIS CHILDREN

As it is written:
Proverbs 3:11-12

11 My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, and do not resent His rebuke [correction],
12 because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in.

As it is written:
Hebrews 12:5-7

5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, my son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of Him:
6 for whom the Lord loves He chastens and scourges every son whom He receives.
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not?

As it is written:
Revelation 3:19

19 As many as I love, I rebuke [correct] and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

As it is written:
Job 5:17

17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so, do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

THE WORD OF GOD THAT LEADS TO SALVATION

As it is written:
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life,

As it is written:
Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto Me all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

As it is written:
Romans 10:9-10

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews which believed on him, if you continue in My word, then are you My disciples indeed.

THE WORD OF GOD ON THE SPIRIT OF FAITH

When God created human beings, He created in them the supernatural ability to believe.  That supernatural ability to believe is called "faith."

Jesus is the author, creator, of the spirit of faith

As it is written:
Hebrews 12:2
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

9 not of works, lest any man should boast.

When we walk, God's living Word will guide us.
When we sleep, God's living Word will watch over us.
When we awake, God's living Word will speak to us.  Amen!

What I have said, that will I bring about;
what I have planned, that will I do.
